Buttercream Wedding Cakes

It is that time of year…lots of couples just got engaged over the holidays and are in full on wedding planning mode for their summer & fall weddings. We have been doing a ton of consultations, and it appears the trend for weddings this year is all buttercream cakes!

Going all buttercream offers a ton of options! There are lots of great rustic textures, rosettes, and all kinds of ruffles to choose from. And, you can even do buttercream flowers on the cake or on cupcakes (I adore this trend!)

Here are some of our favorites!

This cake has the popular buttercream rosettes on it. Blush pink and grey are also a super popular color combo for weddings last year and this upcoming year. There are endless possibilities to this cake, and you don’t even have to add flowers since the buttercream rosettes already look like them!

This cake has a newer updated rosette texture on it. This was inspired by our popular ruffled rose texture that can only be done in fondant, but this here is all buttercream! The top tiers of this one are covered in gold sugar which gives it a sequin type look. I love this look and that modern hand-painted tribal inspired sugar flower.

This cake also has gold (this is a very popular trend!) and it has hand-painting and petal ruffles! I can’t say more things about how much I love this cake. It is simple yet romantic and it would be stunning at any wedding.

This may be my favorite cake right now. I love the rustic texture of the frosting and I am obsessed with the buttercream flowers (especially the yellow billy balls). The pop of color on this cake makes me long for spring and summer, and this cake would be awesome sitting on a table all by itself or as the centerpiece on a dessert bar. There are so many ways elements from the cake and the colors could be incorporated into some adorable and tasty mini desserts.

Another cake not afraid of color. This cake was inspired by the Pantone color of the year-marsala! I love the deep color, the buttercream texture, and the wafer paper flower (second to buttercream flowers, I am loving wafer paper flowers!).

Another cake that isn’t afraid of color is this purple ombre buttercream textured cake with sugar hydrangeas. Purple was probably the most popular color for weddings last year, and it looks like that trend is here to stay!

Another popular trend right now is a natural look-both in frosting and the accents. I love the leaf crown and the sugar carnations on this one. And, how cute are these coordinating mini cupcakes and sugar cookie stacks?

Sticking with that same theme is this cake with the sugar succulents. I love this simple look and I am obsessed with succulents so this cake to me is just perfect!

If a cake isn’t your thing and you want to do cupcakes, how adorable are these ranunculus cupcakes? These would be prefect in any color as well as make any person who loves frosting happy! Plus, there are lots of other flowers we can make in buttercream!
