Wedding Cake Trends this Season

Wedding season is in full swing at Confectioneiress! So far, we have seen one wedding cake design to be a standout favorite among our brides & that is the lace overlay design.

Most brides love the vintage textile look of this and often times, it matches lace detail in their wedding dress. I am a huge fan of this design and am dying to do a black & white version!

The first wedding that started it all was a wedding in Lafayette back in March. The bride wanted to incorporate her wedding colors and other details from her wedding such as the decor and her wedding gown detail.

Other popular wedding cake trends we have seen this year are ruffles! I ADORE ruffle cakes so it has been so much fun to get all kinds of brides who feel the same way! It definitely adds a unique look to the cake and is a great option if you don't want to go the traditional route. This cake was not for a wedding, but I have a lot of brides who are planning on incorporating this design into their cakes (plus, I love the ombre effect & the differences in height between the two tiers!)

And, if you plan on doing cupcakes at your wedding, there are still lots of ways to make them special for your big day. This bride picked lace cupcake wraps & we set up a fancy display with an adorable cake on top.

And, last but not least are all white or ivory cakes. These are very classy and while they tend to be more traditional, you can definitely add design elements to make them unique.

If a sugar peony is not your thing, you can do a real one instead!

There are so many styles of wedding cakes today that it can be hard for a bride to choose! If you are planning a wedding in the Indianapolis/Zionsville area and want to talk cake, you can always set up a tasting and consultation appointment by sending an e-mail to  mica@confectioneiress.com. We would love to customize a wedding cake just for you!

Thanks so much for stopping by…hope you enjoyed the cakes! Be sure to share with us which one is your favorite.
